Become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA)

This 2 day course will teach you all the required skills needed to help you identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

Mental Health First Aid

Who is it for?

The course is aimed at anyone interested in mental health who wants to become trained in MHFA and is looking for ways to better support their colleagues, friends or family who may be struggling.

Workplace mental health - Train in Mental Health First Aid

Make sure to ask your workplace to sponsor you as a delegate and get your training free!

That’s right! Most of our delegates get the training free to them as most employers are willing for you to become their qualified Mental Health First Aider. If you are interested in becoming MHFA trained and are not sure how you can pay for it make sure you ask your workplace to help sponsor you.

It doesn’t hurt to ask. Remember if you don’t ask you don’t get!

Would you know how to help?

We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Mental ill health can strike at any time and can affect people from all walks of life.

Although things are improving, stigma still exists around mental ill health. As a society, we don’t tend to know how to take care of our mental health like we do our physical health. This means that people may not know how to support a friend, family member or colleague experiencing a mental health issue, or where to go for support with their own mental health.

About the
Mental Health First Aid Course

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a training course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

MHFA won’t teach you to be a therapist, but it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening.

  • You’ll learn to recognise warning signs of mental ill health, and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone while keeping yourself safe.
  • You’ll also learn how to empower someone to access the support they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. This could include self-help books or websites, accessing therapy services through their GP, their school or place of work, online self-referral, support groups, and more.
  • What’s more, you’ll gain an understanding of how to support positive wellbeing and tackle stigma in the world around you.

Great experience being trained as a Mental Health First Aider, I have learnt so much. Bianca is an amazing trainer striking the perfect balance between knowledge, empathy and enthusiasm when covering some really difficult topics. She managed to create an open and dynamic learning environment which I imagine is hard when doing things remotely. Her passion is infectious. I would highly recommend! thanks Bianca.

Bianca was an incredible trainer, she has a wealth of experience and makes the environment very safe to tackle some challenging topics. I have learned so much over the course and feel confident I will now be better equipped to support others. Thank you for your passion and expertise.

5/5

I took the Mental Health First Aid training with Bianca and thought they did a really fabulous job of giving lots of detail and information over a short period of time. But more than that, Bianca was willing to be vulnerable and share some of their own experiences – not required, but really helped land some of the concepts and start to reduce stigma. I’ll definitely be back to take the Race Equity and Mental Health course as I’ve been really inspired. Thank you!!
